Case Study
Overland Park Men's Club (OPMC)
A 130-year-old men's golf club needed a website that could finally handle the tournament scheduling, membership signup, and partner discount communication their volunteer board was juggling manually every season.

WordPress build with self-service tournament and member management — 3× member registration completions
About the Client
The Overland Park Men's Club (OPMC) is a public-course men's golf club based in Denver, Colorado, with roots going back to 1895 — one of the oldest golf clubs in the state. They host 8 weekend tournament days at Overland Park Golf Course plus 54 eligible tournament days across Metro Denver throughout the year. Their identity sits on three values: Camaraderie. Competition. Integrity. — and they actively position themselves against the exclusive-club stereotype, welcoming all skill levels.
01 / The Challenge
Where they were
before us.
OPMC was running a complex tournament operation — 8 weekend events plus 54 partner-league tournament days per year — out of a website that couldn't keep up. Every tournament announcement, member benefit, and partner discount was a manual content update that bottlenecked through a single board member. New member signups went through a PDF form. Prospective members landing on the site couldn't quickly answer the questions that mattered most: 'Am I welcome?', 'What's the schedule?', 'How does membership work?' The historical legacy of the club (founded 1895) and its inclusive 'all skill levels' positioning weren't communicated clearly anywhere online.
02 / Our Approach
What we
actually did.
Built the site on WordPress — a deliberate platform choice for OPMC's volunteer-board content model. The board doesn't need a custom Next.js setup; they need a CMS their treasurer can update on a phone between rounds without breaking anything.
Custom WordPress theme designed around the club's three core values (Camaraderie. Competition. Integrity.) — clean, confident, and warm enough to read as welcoming to first-time visitors
Dedicated tournament management module: each event has its own structured page with date, format, course, registration link, and results. The board publishes a new tournament in under 10 minutes per event.
Online member signup flow that replaces the old PDF form — captures member info, handicap data, and payment in one continuous flow
Partner discount and member benefit pages that the board can update independently (Denver Golf Pro Shop merchandise discounts, Overland Park Tavern food/beverage benefits, etc.)
History and legacy treatment that surfaces the 1895 founding date as a credibility signal without making the club feel intimidating to new members
03 / The Solution
What we
delivered.
Full WordPress build with a custom theme and a tournament-management content model the volunteer board can actually maintain. Member registration completions tripled in the first season after launch (the old PDF form was a serious conversion killer), and the board now manages all 62 annual tournament events from the site itself without developer involvement. The site finally communicates the club's actual identity — 130 years of golf, all skill levels welcome — and reads that way to anyone who lands on it.
04 / The Results
The numbers.
Member registration completions
Tournament events managed annually through the site
Time for board to publish a new tournament
Discovery to launch
Nerd Stack built us a website our board can actually run. We update tournaments and member benefits ourselves without breaking anything, and we've tripled our new member signups since launch. The site finally tells our story — 130 years of golf and a welcoming culture — the way we tell it in person.
